iPhone & Android

Set up UKVPN on your phone.

Install the official WireGuard app, add the private tunnel created for your phone, and connect with one switch.

Usually takes about two minutes

Choose your phone

Follow the steps for your device.

The screens differ slightly, but both apps use the same secure WireGuard configuration from your UKVPN dashboard.

Step 01

Install the official WireGuard app

Open the App Store and install WireGuard from the WireGuard Development Team. Avoid similarly named third-party apps.

Step 03

Scan the QR code

  1. Open WireGuard on your iPhone.
  2. Tap Add a tunnel or the + button.
  3. Choose Create from QR code.
  4. Allow camera access, then point the phone at the QR code.
  5. Give the tunnel a name if asked, then allow WireGuard to add a VPN configuration.
Using only your phone?

If you have saved a WireGuard configuration file on the phone, choose Create from file or archive instead. A QR code normally needs to be displayed on a second screen.

Step 04

Switch the tunnel on

Your UKVPN tunnel now appears in the app. Turn its switch on and approve the iPhone VPN prompt if it appears. The VPN symbol in the status area shows that the tunnel is active.

To disconnect later, return to WireGuard and turn the same switch off.

Keep the tunnel private

Treat the QR code like a password.

Create a separate device for every phone

Do not reuse one tunnel configuration across several devices. Separate keys let you revoke one phone without affecting the others.

Do not share the QR code or configuration file

They contain the private information needed to connect as that device.

Revoke lost or replaced phones

Remove the old device from your UKVPN dashboard, then create a fresh device configuration for its replacement.

Quick fixes

If it does not connect.

The QR code will not scan

Increase the brightness of the screen showing the code, remove glare, and make sure the entire square is visible. Alternatively, import the configuration file.

The tunnel is on but pages do not load

Turn the tunnel off and on once. Check that the phone has working Wi-Fi or mobile data, then confirm the UKVPN server is ready in your dashboard.

You changed phones

Do not transfer the old tunnel. Remove the old device in the dashboard and create a fresh device for the new phone.

You cannot approve the VPN prompt

Check parental controls, work-device management, or another active VPN. Phones normally allow only one VPN configuration to be active at a time.

Ready to add your phone?

Open your UKVPN dashboard, select your server and create a device.
